Off to the movies

Yet another very hot day down here today which made it quite uncomfortable outside. We ventured out to the movies to see Hotel for dogs which was a very enjoyable movie and the kids got a real kick out of it.When we returned home Kal and i stayed inside for the majority of the day but shaylie was out and about as per usuall. She spent a short period of time at the starlight room while Kal and i visited some people up on the ward and then down at the house she just played with a couple of young girls that she has gotten to know from previuos visits. We had a nice bbq for dinner cooked by one of the dads here at the house with the meat being provided by the house.A couple of the volunteers made up some side dishes to go with it.We're very much looking forward to Karina coming back tomorrow and i believe that Nanny T may be coming down with Annette sometime tomorrow.Kal would love to see his Nanny T that's for sure.

Nothing new

Not alot to report on today.Shaylie arrived this morning and pretty much went straight out and played.A couple of friends she made last time she was down arrived later in the afternoon so she was quite pleased with that.Kal had a pretty quiet day and actually felt a little bit off later in the evening although seemed to get a little better by bed time

Lounge lizards

Today at around lunch time mum and Kiarna left to go back home. With Kiarna being back at school tomorrow she had to get home to get everything prepared.Apart from me going to the gym this morning Kal and i spent the day at the house in the cool watching a bit of tele and some dvd's.Adrianne(the manager here at the house)had her friends dog here today so Kal had a bit of fun with him, throwing of all things a toy high heel shoe for him to chase and bring back.

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow because my little(although she's not so little anymore)darling Shaylie is coming down with her Aunty netty. It seems like an age since i've seen her. She's going to spend a few days down here then return home for school. It's only a few days but any time will be worth it.

Low blood count

This morning Kal had some bloods taken and then had an appointment at clinic. We were expecting to be told when he would start chemo again but instead were informed that his blood counts were too low for any treatment to begin. The doctor said it wasn't anything out of the ordinary but infact quite commen given the type of chemo he'd just had.He was also given some more magnesium tablets to take as those levels were quite low also, again not an unexpected thing. So as it stands he has another appointment for monday where he'll have more blood taken then have his counts checked for a possible admission on the 9th of feb for his next round of chemo. He's due for methatrexate which he normally handles ok so fingers crossed that'll be the case this time round. The rest of the day was spent watching his beloved WWE superstars on dvd and hanging with his cousin Kiarna then nanny prepared one of his fave dishes for tea, tacos.

Another quiet one

Not alot to report on today and as the title suggests it was another very quiet day at the house.Karina left to go home to organise shaylie to start school tomorrow and after a brief period of being upset Kal handled it pretty well.Although he never likes seeing his mum leave he seems to understand a bit more now.Later on this evening Nanny arrived back and bought Kal's cousin Kiarna with her.Kiarna has been really keen to come down and spend some time down here with us and with school just around the corner and Kal feeling pretty good now is the best time for her to come down.

Australia day

As mentioned yesterday we headed to parramatta park to get into the spirit of Australia day.The only problem was Kal just wasn't up to it.I knew that it was only a short stroll from the hospital to the park. What i didn't know was how big parramatta park was.The worst part being that all the festivities were at the very far end from westmead. So it turned in to quite a hike which ended up being too much too soon for Kal.With Kallan's blood counts still probably fairly low he just doesn't have the energy levels needed for a)the long hike there b)walk around to take in and get involved in all the attractions and c)the long hike back.It knocked him around quite a bit and he really appreciated getting back home just to rest and re-charge the batteries.I think the main reason he wanted to go to the park is because of the quietness of the house.Despite nearly all rooms being taken the house does seem strangely quiet and he's commented several times on how there's no-one to hang out with and said to me a little while ago that he's ready for some more visitors. If only it was that easy.Kal finsihed the day feeling good and more importantly was in good spirits.

A real family day

Kal woke this morning not feeling the best and was soon in the bathroom vomiting. The thought of "not this again" crossed my mind because he'd been doing so well.I'd been keeping the anti-nausia tablets up to him, even setting my alarm for every 4hrs through the night,to give him the best chance of keeping the sickness at bay.I explained to him that it could be the fact that he hasn't eaten for days.He told me that sometimes he feels like something but he's too scared to eat because it might make him sick.He picked up soon enough and ended up having a very enjoyable day.Karina was the first to arrive which went a long way to improving his condition and was soon followed by Poppy and for the first time his cousins Tegan and Hayden came down with Poppy.Hot on the heels of their arrival was Aunty Allison,Uncle Will and kids who only arrived back in the country within the last 48hrs.Kallan enjoyed having everyone around enormously and despite not having any of the bbq that was cooked for lunch he did at least have some small snacks throughout the day.

On a sad note my mum left to go back home today.Although i know she enjoys coming down here it must still be hard because there's still other family and nieces and nephews at home she misses. On the other hand i'm really gonna cherish some time with just Karina,Kal and I.If only my little Shaylie could come down aswell,I miss her so much and talking to her on the phone just doesn't cut it.But i'm sure she's having plenty of fun whatever she might get up to which is the most important thing i guess.Weather permitting we are going to parramatta park tomorrow for some Australia Day activities which i've heard should be a pretty big day.

Ups and downs

Kallan continues to feel good and has also become more mobile getting up and about alot more.Unfortunately he's still not quite there emotionally again becoming upset at times saying he missed family and that there's no one here his age to hang out with.To try and get him out of this little rut i decided we needed to get out for the day. With it being so hot i knew it still had to be indoors so the movies was our best option.Bed time stories was his movie of choice,a movie he's wanted to see for a while. It was pretty good without being outrageously funny but most importantly it seemed to do the trick. His mood really picked up but it might have also had something to do with the fact that he's getting visitors tomorrow including his much loved mummy. The only downer for the day occurred when we returned home to find the air conditioning at the house had carked it again. It made for a very uncomfortable few hours untill a cool change came and made things a whole lot better. The air con was fixed later in the evening but for how long is anyone's guess.

Discharged

Today was another day of improvement for Kallan but it was also an emotional day for him.He woke this morning feeling quite well but still very tired and lethargic. At this stage he is handling things better than expected as we thought he would still feel nausious for a few days yet as this is what has happened on previous occasions with these drugs.Fingers crossed he can maintain it.Although feeling physically better he was a little down emotionally. He misses all his family a lot and even said he misses his little sister. He had his dressings changed today also which he found to be quite painful.A lot of it i think was due to his mental state at the time. He's never found it that painful before but it was all a little too much for him today.

As mentioned earlier physically he's coping very well. He's drinking and has even had an iced chocolate and tried some biscuits. When on these drugs previously he couldn't even look at food or smell it without gagging so to see him try things is very encouraging.I'll keep up the anti nausia meds which should(touch wood)keep him from feeling sick.

Hanging in there

Not much has changed for poor Kal.Despite his chemo being taken down just after lunch today he's still struggled with nausia. This is not unusual with this particular chemo infact we're expecting him to be like this for a few more days yet possibly even longer.

Battling on

Today saw a slight improvement in Kallan. While still undergoing chemo his vomiting seems to have stopped but he still feels unwell. As is the norm with this chemo he is extremely lethargic and it's a real battle for him to get off the bed just to do a wee.About lunchtime tomorrow the chemo will be taken down and then it's just a matter of recovering which usually takes at least a week for him to get anywhere near his old self.He really brightened up(and so did i)when i told him mummy was taking some time off to come down tomorrow.

On a rather traumatic note which may require me to go to the very top, namely Kevvie Rudd, for a full inquirey. On a number of occasions today both myself and mum went to starbucks today for an iced chocolate.A drink to which i've become a little partial to.Each time we were told that they had run out of ice.Can you believe it.I know some parts of the state still have water restrictions but this is just rediculous. On second thought i know Mr Obama has vowed to fix everything thats wrong with the world,i'm sure this crisis would sit highly on his to do list

Not a great start

Today at about 12pm Kallan started his chemo. This course is particularly nasty and unfortunately despite a cocktail of anti-nausia drugs the sickness has set in early.Unfortunately the second 24hrs is generally the worst. He seems to have settled a little and i'm just praying for a settled night.Usually when patients have any chemo this nasty they try to allocate single rooms but with the ward chocka block full kallan was put in a room with a very young boy who, like most boys that age,is quite noisy. He's having treatment of his own so he too would be feeling like crap but unfortunately that doesn't make it any easier for Kal.He's tried giving the nurse some not so subtle hints by saying "any chance of a single room pleeeease" but with no luck.

Kallan is also finding this celebrity caper hard to handle already. He had a few autograph requests when Julie (from the bandaged bear campaign)came with some more posters.Julie got the first one after Kallan made a promise to her. Then one of the nurses came in and wanted an autographed copy then one of the mums followed suit.Later in the evening when he wasn't feeling so good i told him one of his favourate nurses Nicole(aka blondey)was coming in to see him and the poster. He replied by saying "tell her i'm not really up for signing any at the moment".We all thought that was quite funny, nicole included.

Back on ward.......eventually

Today started simple enough.Appointments took up most of the morning and everything went to plan, all results were good and all seemed swell. We arrived at clinic to check Kallan in to be admitted if there were beds available. We were soon told there were no beds and just to come back in the morning. No worries we thought.later in the day at about 2pm we got a phone call to say they now had a bed to bring him straight up.That was fine untill we got up to clinic and the doctor said she was going to lunch and the paperwork wasn't ready. So after waiting around till we could see the doctor to get the paperwork finalised we were then told to come back at 8:00pm tonight.Kal didn't mind because it gave him a bit more free time out of the ward. After having some tea we headed up to get him settled in,although he does make himself at home fairly quickly these days

Although we'd much rather be home i've got to say how nice it is to catch up with some of the families and people we've all become close to.I'm sure we'll continue to remain close when each of us have gotten through our ordeals.

ready to start again

Today was a very relaxing day for Kal as we readied ourselves for a return to westmead. We didn't do a hell of a lot with Kallan keeping himself occupied playing with some new toys and playing his wii and sony.Karina and i tried our best to catch up on some sleep without much luck. After trying my best to avoid it the time finaly arrived to start getting organised for our return trip.Kallan, mum and myself ventured back around 7 o'clock this evening and got ourselves settled for the night.Kal has a few appointments in the morning before we go to find out if there is a bed available for him to start his next lot of treatment. All going well he'll be hooked up with fluids tomorrow around lunchtime with chemo starting the next morning.Kallan still seems unfazed about what lays ahead,a testimony to his amazing attitude and determination

Saturday update

Yesterday morning Pop came to pick Kal up to do some shopping.kal wanted to spend some of his hard earned money and had no clue what he wanted or where he wanted it from. When he eventually returned he came in dragging a big box with a wrestling ring in it.Not just any old ring either it was an "elimination chamber" the most intimidating structure in profesional wrestling(so i'm told).Shaylie went for a play at her friend Olivia's house where she had lunch, went swimming and did some other girly things i'm sure.

Another quiet day

It was a pretty quiet day for Kal today. With it being so hot it's not possible for Kal to spend much time outside.Apart from coming with me to have my back looked at it was very much an indoors day. When we returned from the chiropracter Kal had a package in the mail.Inside was a letter and several bandaged bear posters of Kallan.I think i was more excited than Kal he just seemed to take it in his stride.I've got a few to hand out to family and in the letter it says i can have more if need be.As time draws closer to heading back down to sydney kallan continues to be unfazed about what awaits him.I suppose you could put it down to been there done that but i think it has more to do with him becoming more battle hardened if you will.I know he would rather not go through it but as he said to a nurse in surgical ward "i just want get it over with so i can go home and not come back".Something tells me that when it's all over we may go back for a few visits to both the hospital and the house such is the impact this whole experience has had on both of us.

Off day

Kallan woke this morning feeling fine, had some breckie and seemed to be his normal self.A bit later, while cleaning out the shed, shaylie came out and said Kal was throwing up.It was strange because although he threw up a few more times he seemed fine in between each time.In the end he flaked out big time sleeping for nearly 3 hours. He woke feeling fine and stayed that way for the remainder of the night. We had a delayed christmas clean out today and Shaylie was a great help to me today even helping with Kal's room for a short time. She also helped nan finish tidying up Kal's room after i did my back in.I was doing it a bit tough and mum had called in with some plastic storage boxes and banished me to the lounge.Shaylie got in helped nan pack stuff away into the boxes. While all of this transpired Kal remained dead to the world. He felt bad when he woke because he said if he got in and helped i wouldn't have hurt my back, god love him.My back felt much better after Karina gave it good rub(my back that is you dirty buggers)and helped me through some stretches. She's very good at what she does and it was instant pain relief.

Bird watching

This morning Kal went with Pop to Aunty Noni's house as she organised for Kal to see a pretty rare pair of birds. They're a pair of makours(i have no idea if that's spelt correctly)and from what kal had told me there pretty impressive.Once there Kal found out the owner had a number of different breeds including a black cockatoo,a few normal cockatoo's and a few others, the names of which i can't recall. The man lives not far from Aunty Noni and told Kallan he's welcome anytime he likes. It's an offer i know Kal will jump at.When he returned home he showed me some photos he'd taken of all the birds. He enjoyed the visit immensly and is already asking about when he can go back and judging by the photos i'd love to check them out myself

Enjoying being home

Today Kallan spent the day doing things he hasn't done for what seems like an age, playing his sony and his wii aswell as spending some time at his Nan & Pops.I had a bit of running around to do and Kallan wasn't keen so he spent a few hours at Nan and Pops playing with little cousins Monica and Trey.Later in the day he switched between sony and wii while Karina and I had a snooze.I think it was just a case of us both hitting a wall.I know myself as soon as i took time to rest i just flaked and i hadn't even started the dvd before Karina nodded off.Shaylie had an outing with Aunty Netty doing some wedding shopping which i'm sure Shaylie had quite a substantial input into what was finally decided.

Later in the evening we all had the chance to catch up with Mick and Jo Threlfo who, along with plenty of others, have been so supportive of us right from day 1.There always good company and we always seem to have a good laugh. When Kal was diagnosed it was so hard to re-tell the news but i gotta say I'm kind of enjoying spreading some good news for a change.

Test Results In and Home Again.

Yeeha! We have had fantastic news today. We had an appointment with Kallans oncologist (Dr Michael Stevens) today. We have been waiting on the results from tests on Kallan's tumour that was removed. The results were expected to be here last Tuesday or Wednesday but no luck, so we were hoping that they were back today. Yep. they were. Great results from the first 2 cycles of chemo with tests showing that
95% of cancer cells are dead within the tumour.

Kallan is now scheduled to start chemo again next Monday. They are wanting to give him a little break between operation and chemo as they want him to try and heal as much as he can as chemo can reduce healing process. He is doing really well and this is to everyone's suprise.

Today after the appointment with the oncologist I had a conversation with an outreach nurse who helps with follow-up treatment from hospital to home. She expressed to me how she has noticed how Kallan has grown emotionally over the last couple of months. I absolutely agree, his outlook on things seem to be coming from new eyes. Eyes that have both seen and endured a whole lot, yet allow him to still be so positive about all aspects of his treatment. I also feel that his frame of mind has been a huge help with his recovery from his operation. No complaining has been uttered from him even while doing his exercises (through gritted teeth) with his shoulder. He is a little soldier.

Lazy sunday

Today we had a visit from Poppy and Noni but the down side of that is they took Nanny back home with them. It's been a massive help having her down here and it allowed me to do things that normally wouldn't have been possible.I'm sure i'll be calling on her services again before too long.On the plus side of things Karina returned much to the delight of Kallan and myself. Before Nan & Pop returned home we had a nice late bbq lunch.

In the evening we had a long overdue family outing to the movies to see Marley & Me a funny yet quite touching movie which, without giving too much away, both Kallan and Shaylie had a little cry towards the end.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow and hope we get the all clear to come home for a while.I also hope we get a better idea of when Kal's next round of chemo is going too start.I know Kal would rather it not start it at all but the sooner it starts the sooner it's all over

Very quiet day

Today was spent just chillin around the house.Shaylie found it pretty easy to keep herself occupied by going to the starlight room and then when that shut she came back to the house and played with some new friends she has made here at the house. They are a new family that's arrived here recently and they have 4 girls so that's perfect for shaylie.Mum,Kallan and i just watched some dvd's and just spent some time with the other families. While Shaylie was at the starlight room she made a birthday card for Dr Stalley and on the back of it she wrote "thankyou for fixing my brother",how sweet is that.

Changing rooms

Unfortunately today we were made to change rooms.I say unfortunately because we were in the best room in the house with our own kitchen and a seperate bedroom for the parents. Not that i would ever complain because any room here would do us.After moving we had a visit from a really nice guy we've met since being down here. His name is Dane and his mum is a client of Karina's and she told him about us.He works up at the adults hospital and comes to visit Kallan and i usually once a week after work.Being into sports like me we usually have plenty to chat about. We went up to clinic in the afternoon to see bridgette(she organises follow up treatment for us at John Hunter)and she told us that Dr Stevens still wants to see Kallan on monday but after that we'd be fine to go home and wait for them to contact us for the starting date of his chemo. We're not getting too excited yet because many families have had their plans changed at the last minute.I don't see why they would do that to us in this instant

Thursday, January 8, 2009

I just love sydney traffic

Today Kallan had a meeting with one of Dr Stalley's registrar's Dr Will Aston. He wanted to check on Kallan's wound and just to see how he was coping. He said that the wound looks very good and wants him to take it slow with his exercises and movement. There was no results back from pathology as yet and Dr Aston said that it may be another week or so before we know anything. We are no closer to finding out when his next round of chemo will start as Dr Stevens(his oncologist)said they can't start anything untill given the all clear from Dr Stalley. They gave no indication when that will be but said they'd like to see him go home for a while.I'll find out if that's possible tomorrow.

After our meeting we ventured out to visit my cousin Peta in manly. It was a much cooler day so i decided it was a good idea to go the extra long route(that's my story and I'm sticking to it)to Peta's place.Once there we checked out some photos of peta and my uncle Dan's trip to PNG to walk the kekoda trail. It was really quite fascinating viewing and i would love to do it someday. Then it was downstairs for some serious air hockey matches where kal beat shay then shay had a lucky win against me.Kal and Peta fought out the final played under house rules(Peta's house,Peta's rules subject to change at any time). In a thrilling finale' it was Peta winning 9-8 but Kallan has vowed redemption next time round. After a very enjoyable day i thought it was such a good day for driving that i would again try a very different route home.I think it's important to explore every possible way to get from here to there just in case you find yourself in an unusual location(believe that and you'll believe anything). When we arrived home the house had put on a big bbq for everyone which went down very well.

Out and about

Today, despite it still being quite hot,we went out to westfields at parramatta to catch a movie. We saw Bolt,an animated movie about a dog who thinks he has super powers. The kids really enjoyed it and had a good laugh and i gotta say i quite enjoyed it myself. While we were there we called into a shop called Build a bear workshop where the kids got to help with making their own teddy bear. They got to name them and when they put the heart in the bear they had to make a special wish then give it a kiss before putting the heart in to their teddy.Kallan made a white tiger and shaylie made a high school musical teddy bear.

At the house at the moment we have an overnight who is a real stickler for the rules and needless to say she hasn't gone down too well with shaylie.Shaylie came storming into the room just after 9 o'clock and said "that grumpy grouch out there told me i have to come to my room because all kids have to be in bed by 9 o'clock".In Shaylie's defence none of us have ever heard of that one before. She's also gotten under the skin of several people who are probably not used to the rules being enforced so dilligently.

What a scorcher

Today delivered an absolute scorcher and staying indoors was really the only option. We also had a surprize visitor in my cousin Peta who lives in Manly. She spent most of the day with us today which was great. It was great to catch up again and have a laugh at some very funny stories from days gone by involving our whole family that just seem to get funnier by the telling.Quite a number of those stories seemed to involve my Aunty Ann for some reason. She's great fun to be around my aunty.

As the evening neared and with the weather still very hot and humid the air conditioning here at the house packed it in.With it not being able to be fixed till tomorrow i'm anticipating it being very tough to sleep.

Kallan's appetite has really picked up and he sure howed into the taco's nanny cooked for tea.Shaylie had a fun day but the majority of it would you believe was spent outside of the starlight room. She spent the morning there and met up one of her many new friends she has made. She came back to the house with little Alani and her mum then went off with them and helped cook up a storm(making scones and bikkies i belive)for most of the afternoon.

Discharged

Kallan was over the moon today when told he was allowed to leave the hospital.Despite being unable to go anywhere or do anything because of the stinking hot weather he was as happy as larry just to be able to leave the hospital ward.We have to wait for the results of the tests on his tumor which will be available possibly tomorrow or wednesday. These tests will show how many cancerous cells have been killed. If the chemo has worked well then there should be a significant amount of dead cells, fingers crossed. He spent the afternoon just hanging out at the house and playing the playstation in his friend Jessie's room.We had a very quick visit back to the ward because the dressing on Kallan's arm was coming off. After making sure the nurse fixing his dressing was doing everything correctly we were on our way again.

Shaylie not surprisingly spent most of the day in,you guessed it,the starlight room. She came away with yet another prize from their quiz,a high school musical 2 diary. She also did plenty of craft and also had her photo taken to go up on the silly face wall.

I had a little outing myself today after finding out after all this time that there is a gym up the road that offer free visits for all parents staying at Ronald Mcdonald House.I went along with another parent and while mum is down here i'm planning on going as much as i can.Hopefully the heat will ease in the next few days and kallan, shaylie, nan and I can have a few outings and enjoy a bit of spare time.

Visit from family

Kallan continues to feel great and his physio has even given him more exercises to do because he's progressing so well.He had a very brief visit from his oncologist Dr Michael Stevens and his team and he said to Karina that Kallan's making a remarkable recovery. The day got even better when Shaylie,Nanny T and Uncle David arrived almost immediately followed by Nan&pop.Kallan increased his food intake today and it was decided he no longer needs fluids and he had his lines hep locked. We are hoping that they'll discharge Kal soon so he can at least have a bit of a relax down at the house or even go do something fun before heading back up for his next round of chemo.

Kallan really enjoyed having some family around today. He always loves having visitors but he really lapped up the attention today and how could you blame him.Nan & Pop are even staying the night with Nan staying on for few more days so that shaylie can stay down here a bit longer.I'm really looking forward to making the most of any spare time Kal might get even though he'll be pretty restricted in what he can do.I'm sure we'll be able to find something to do.

Well on his way

As the title suggests Kallan is well on his way to recovery.Today showed a big improvement in his condition even eating and more importantly keeping down some food.He had a another visit from Dr Stalley just to see how he was going. When the oncologist came to visit Karina said he talked their ears off about birds after one of them made the mistake of mentioning that she loved them.He also enjoyed a visit from Jessie(a leukaemia patient)and his mum tanya.Jessie and tanya are just one of the many lovely families karina have had the privellage to meet down at Ronald Mcdonald house, many with very different stories but all equally heart wrenching.Kal rounded of his day by watching his beloved wwe superstars on dvd then off to sleep. It was a great feeling seeing him improve so much and with his little sister,Nan&pop,Nanny T and uncle David all coming for a visit tomorrow his mood is sure to be sky high.I can't wait to spend a few days with my little sweetheart Shaylie.I really love having her down here, and she loves being here too don't worry.

On a bit of sad note, sometime tomorrow Karina will return home to get ready to start back at work.I can't tell you how much i've loved having her down here with Kallan and I and i know for certain kal's loved it just as much if not more. We'll be most definately missing her when she leaves but we'll do our best to soldier on.

improving slowly

Kallan started the day feeling much better. His pain levels continue to improve,so much so they removed his regional(the line in his neck). He just has oral medication now to manage his pain and it seems to be keeping him comfortable enough at this stage.Despite still being off his food he attempted to to eat on a couple of occasions only to feel pretty rotten after it.He threw up after trying to have some tea but settled down to watch a movie and then fall off to sleep for the night.Despite still having some low points during the day it was another improvement on the previous day.If we could have that each day it would be fantastic.Even if it's just a tiny bit.

Despite his continual improvement he still showed some signs that he'd had enough. At one point he got a bit emotional and just kept saying he wanted to go home,as much as we can all understand where he's coming from we had to explain that it's out of the question at this stage. He got past that pretty quickly and had a pretty good afternoon and evening.

Before signing off I'd just like to say how much i'm missing my little darling Shaylie. It made my heart melt when she told me that she had a cuddle with Uncle David but it just wasn't the same. Can't wait till she can come and spend some time down here with me.Missing you and love you very much shaylie.

Mixed Bag

Kal woke this morning still not feeling well.DR Stalley visited again this morning and said that the x-rays look great and he even asked Kallan to give him the bird(apparently it shows good nerve function). He also told Kallan that he had to get out of bed and the cathada had to come out.Well not long after,it did come out and it wasn't pleasent for the poor bugger.I must admitt my legs were crossed and eyes were watering just watching and i don't blame him for grabbing at his package every time it was mentioned afterwards. We could really see an improvement in Kallan as the day went on.His Poppy Robbie and Nanny Ruth came and visited and he'd actually made it out of bed and sat on a lounge chair while they were here.He later managed to walk from his bed to the toilet in an attempt to get his bowels moving.Kallan's movement in his bed(i.e.rolling over, sittng up etc)has improved also.

Later in the day Kal's continued trouble with constpation seemed to worsen and his belly pains increased. It was during this time that Kallan's ordeal started to get to him.He just didn't know what he wanted and seemed to be extremely tired. After being given some more meds for his constipation he finally managed to do some number 2's. He said he felt so much better.

Unfortuntely that wasn't the end Kallans troubles for the night. He developed some problems with his bladder and was in some serious discomfort feeling the need to wee constantly. His urine was tested and came back clear. It's suspected he's had some irritation from the cathadar but they are monitoring it in case of a bladder infection. He would later settle and fall off to sleep for the night.

On a lighter note Poppy robbie was talking about the impending nuptuals of his daughter and Kallan's aunty Annette when he said to Kallan "You'll have to be there becuase Annette needs a flower boy" then without hesitation Kal turned and said "tell her Aiden will do it ".It's great to see our Kal coming back out.
