Kallan was taken to surgery to insert a central line straight into his jugular vein.
Their are two types of central lines. One is contained within the body and can not be seen. Each time medication is administered, a needle prick is felt and can be a little painful. The second one, which protrudes from the body, and has three lines, has no pain upon administration of medication. The entry area will have to be cleaned on occasion. This is the one Kallan has.
Upon insertion of the line, Kallan was transferred from Surgical Ward to Oncology Ward in preparation for his chemotherapy.
